This project looked at designing a supply chain solution to improve the energy efficiency of the vast majority of the 26 million UK homes which will still be in use by 2050.It looked to identify ways in which the refurbishment and retrofitting of existing residential properties can be accelerated by industrialising the processes of design, supply and implementation, while stimulating demand from householders by exploiting additional opportunities that come with extensive building refurbishment.The project developed a top-to-bottom process, using a method of analysing the most cost-effective package of measures suitable for a particular property, through to how these will be installed with the minimum disruption to the householder. This includes identifying the skills required of the people on the ground as well as the optimum material distribution networks to supply them with exactly what is required and when.
Work Package 1 is about Understanding thermal performance of the housing stock at an individual dwelling level.
This deliverable is number 4 of 6 in Work Package 1. It provides details of the testing procedures that have been carried out on the Beta version of the computer model developed across Work Packages 1 and 2. The aim of the model is to be able to characterise the thermal efficiency of residential properties at two levels- the individual building level, and
- the UK housing stock level.
The ultimate aim of this is to be able to identify the optimum thermal efficiency interventions which can be made at a building and stock level, and to quantify the impact on energy efficiency which these interventions will make. The testing described within this document describes the testing of the ‘single dwelling’core of the computer model which has been carried out at a number of different levels of granularity. |
