UKERC Review of Evidence on Global Oil Depletion - Technical Report 1: Data Sources and Issues

This report summarises several of the significant issues associated with oil production and reserve data. A fuller understanding of these issues provides a necessary basis for an objective examination of global oil depletion. The report addresses the subject in four sections:

• Definitions used within oil industry data are often a subject of confusion.
• The Data Sources commonly available are also discussed.
• Reserve Estimates are the most contentious data reported by the oil industry.
• Finally Production Data is examined in Section 5.
