Abstract |
This slide set was presented by the Forest Research led team, covering the findings from the whole of the Characterisation of Feedstocks Project. This project provides a wealth of robust information and many consistent high-level findings to inform biomass growers and end-users. The findings have challenged some widely held views, reinforced others and hinted at some intriguing differences that may be worth further study.
It was not possible to derive simple guidance for biomass growers because of the differences in the behaviour of the individual feedstock characteristics. For any one year and site, the net effect of these changes is difficult to predict.
If there was sufficient premium for crop quality, a monitoring programme, which could focus on the most important parameters for the end - use in mind, could be considered. |
