Abstract | This EPSRC proposal forms part of a Foresight LINK proposal led by ALSTOM Power aimed at the conceptual design of a natural gas 'semi-closed CO2 cycle' unit (GAS-ZEP). This concept offers 100% removal of CO2 and less than 1ppm NOx emissions. The purpose of this EPSRC proposal is to develop the knowledge required o materials performance inhigh pressure CO2/steam environments to support the conceptual design; many of the system components will operate at conditions not experiencedin other industrial systems and so little directly relevant information exist. The proposal comprises a review of the limited existing data from technologies with similar operating environments (e.g. advanced gas cooled reactors) and the execution of a systematic research programme to determine the oxidation/corrosion performance of current industrial and other candidate materials and coatings for duty in the CO2/steam environments of the GAS-ZEP system components - gas turbine, waste heat recovery boiler and CO2/steam separator | |
