Objectives | Smaller, lighter, safer equipment, with greatly reduced cabling at substations. Standardised secondary monitoring, protection & control equipment added/replaced without planned outage requirements. Integrated data wide area monitoring and control improving observability and control flexibility and accelerating integration of low carbon technologies.
Abstract | FITNESS will deliver the pilot GB live multi-vendor digital substation instrumentation system to protect, monitor and control the transmission network using digital communication over fibre to replace copper hardwiring, reducing cost, risk and environmental impact, and increasing flexibility, controllability and availability.
