| Abstract | The Government has important commitments to reduce household carbon emissions by increasing energy efficiency, and to eliminate fuel poverty. Progress on these commitments is assessed by the generation of data and its application to models of household energy use. There are concerns about both the quality of available data and the reliability of the models. A feature of the forthcoming UK EnergyResearch Centre will be energy modelling activity intended both to bring together existing expertiseand to increase it substantially. This proposal will examine both existing data and models of household energy use, to draw initial conclusions about their adequacy and reliability for informing UK policy in this area and to lay the foundation for initial work in this area under the UKERC by forminga network of UK modellers and producing a project proposal for a joint modelling exercise to enable the models to be compared in more detail than this initial project will be able to do. | |
