Objectives The Department for Transport and the Energy Review Team are looking for a report that provides the technological basis needed to guide the Energy Reviews task of reducing carbon emissions and improving security of supply in the UK transport sector to 2050. The contractor will need to summarise the potential for carbon reduction from all present and future technologies in the transport sector. To achieve this, the report will: - In order to achieve medium and long-term (2010-20 50) ca rbon reductions in the transport sector, summarise state of, and gaps in, current knowledge of technologies, including their costs - Identify key technology and cost issues that future policy choices may have to take into account. For example, high levels of uncertainty of predicted cost reductions of some technologies, or sustainability issues of biofuels
Abstract This study builds on the work tendered from the 2003 Energy White Paper Liquid Biofuels and Renewable Hydrogen, E4Tech. Consultants should consider this study a partial updating of that work. In particular, this study needs to take note of major advancements in technology or certainty since that time as well as industry expectations of transport technologies.
