Objectives | For the collection of data and development of a draft Good Practice Case Study exploring efficiency improvements in the distribution operations of Thorntons plc.
Abstract | In 1996, the Energy Efficiency Best Practice Programme (now the TransportEnergy BestPractice programme) produced Good Practice Case Study 342, entitled “Fuel Management for Transport Operators”. This case study focused on the transport and distribution operations of Thorntons plc and highlighted the company’s two-phase fuel management programme which resulted in significant financial and environmental savings. TransportEnergy BestPractice met with Thorntons plcin August 2003and secured their commitment to host a new case study. The purpose of this new case study will be to revisit their operation and provide an update on further fuel management measures implemented since 1996, the resulting efficiency improvements and subsequent financial and environmental savings
